2. WELFARE COMPLEX ACTIVITIES

(a) Stress Mgt by Sehaj Yoga and Meditation: -  Sehaj Yoga is being organized time to time for families of Offr/JCO’s/OR’s. Mrs Manju Yadav conducted a class on Stress Management through Sehaj Yoga and Meditation on 19 Aug 14 and from 17 Dec 14 to 19 Dec 14 there was an seminar for the families of the stn and Veer Naris were specially invited and felicitated during the occasion.

(b) Upgradation of Drona Boys Hostel/Asha School and VTC
   
(a) Asha School:  Asha School was established on March 1998, located in CH and managed by 71 Sub Area (14 EME Bn). Asha School is affiliated with MOSJE (Ministry of Social justice and Empowerment).  Special educators and Physiotherapists including music & assistant teachers are hired for development of children.

• Computer Training Classes  A specially designed Clevy Key Board and Big Track 3” Trackball (Mouse) designed for the special children, purchased from Net Systems Informatics (India) Pvt Ltd Goregaon Mumbai, have been installed in the Computer Lab. The children are quite happy and enthusiastic to learn through this specially designed computer aid.

 

 

CLEVY KEY BOARD AND BIG TRACK 3”TRACKBALL (MOUSE
• Hydrotherapy (Whirlpool Bath)  Whirlpool Bath machine for Hydrotherapy of special children has been installed in the school. This helps the children in reducing spasticity pain and improves balance and coordination.

 

 

WHIRLPOOL BATH MACHINE FOR HYDROTHERAPY

• Upgrading the Facilities: -   At present 38 Children are in the school. AWWA is continuously working in upgrading the facilities for students of Asha School. Certain items are reqd to improve the facilities for the children and also to improve the existing infrastructure at the school. An expenditure of Rs 3, 68,500 will be incurred for the same, which is proposed by AWWA HQ NC.
b) Drona Boys Hostel: -   Drona Boys Hostel was established in Jun 1998 and managed by 1 FOD. There are 37 students including 27 of OP Sadbhavana. Role of hostel is to provide hostel facilities to wards of serving/esm that were in service and for the children from Gujjars/Bakarwals communities & militancy affected areas of J&K and upgrading the facilities for students. Following are the Upgradation programs being run for Drona Boys Hostel.

 

 

DRONA BOYS HOSTEL
• Coolers and Dispensers for Students: -    Six coolers and two water dispensers were provided to the student’s dormitory during the summer season. A solar heater of 500 ltrs has been est at the Drona Boys Hostel with the assistance of PNB Jammu. Further Upgradation is in progress so as to ensure that the boys are comfortable and to ensure their overall development.   

• Upgrading the Facilities: -   Certain items are reqd to improve the facilities for the children and also to improve the existing infrastructure at the school. An expenditure of Rs 2, 35,400 will be incurred for the same, which is proposed by AWWA HQ NC.


C) Vocational Training Centre:-   VTC was established in 1992 and being run by 14 Sub Gp. More than 852 ladies were trained through VTC and employed in various Fmns.


• VTC Centres:-  A total of seven Vocational Training Centers are being run in the Command at the following locations: -
(a) Udhampur            
(b) Leh.           
(c) Srinagar.
(d) Nagrota.                       
(e) Akhnoor.     .
(f) Palampur
(g) Alihal.

• Collaboration with OP Sadbhavana:-  In addition to the above a number of Women Empowerment Centers are being run in Ladakh region under the aegis of Op Sadbhavna in conjunction with AWWA which serve to empower the local women of the area and AWWA members with necessary vocational skills like durrie/carpet weaving, bottled juice production, socks making etc.
• Details of Courses :-  The following courses are being conducted at the VTCs. Trained instructors are being employed and the courses culminate in an examination and award of certificates/ diplomas to successful candidates:-

        (a)  Tailoring, Stitching and Knitting.
        (b)  Embroidery.
        (c)   English Speaking.            
        (d)  Computers.
        (e)  Nursery Teachers Training.
        (f)  Beauty Culture and Self Grooming.
        (g)  Toy/ Bag Making and Hobby Classes.
